MYSTIC, CT — An animal welfare group has asked the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to investigate a complaint against Mystic Aquarium, according to The New London Day. Stop Animal Exploitation Now, or SAEN, asked the USDA to launch an investigation into a "serious violation" of the federal Animal Welfare Act.

The allegation is related to the death of a beluga whale named Havana in February. SAEN officials said the aquarium should be fined $10,000 a day per infraction for every violation dating back to September.
