
Author and Historian Jim Littlefield to Speak at SECAPA Meeting September 16th
The Southeast Chapter of the Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association will present author and historian Jim Littlefield at its next open meeting Monday, Sept. 16th, at the Groton Inn and Suites at 6:30 PM.Jim Littlefield has taught history in Connecticut schools for 47 years. In addition he writes a monthly history column entitled, “History Matters,” which emphasizes the important role history has played in defining who we are today. Jim and his wife, Georgia Lee, have restored two homes from the pre-Civil War period, each with an accompanying blacksmith shop where Jim has worked at the trade. He is a member of the Connecticut Blacksmithing Guild.
Jim’s presentation, “Writing Historical Fiction” will be based on his own experience writing his novel, The Slave Catcher’s Woman, which was inspired by Coswell Tims a composite character Jim portrayed in Civil War re-enacting.
His talk will follow a brief business meeting that commences at 6:30 PM; refreshments will then be served during a networking session.
