Blighted Mystic Home Draws Residents' Ire: Report

MYSTIC, CT — A blighted home on Velvet Lane in Mystic has drawn the ire of many residents because they consider it an eyesore, but Stonington officials say they are virtually powerless to force a clean up of the property, reports The Day.

The town has a blight ordinance on the books, and the dilapidated home has peeling paint, an overgrown lot, an old SUV with a flat tire in the driveway and other issues.

But town officials told the publication that the taxes are not in arrears, and the home at 11 Velvet Lane still doesn't meet the criteria for blight.
