Utilizing Disney Promotions To Help You Save on Your Next Vacation

Over the past few years, The Walt Disney Travel Company has released a plethora of cost-saving promotions- Free Dining, Room Discounts, and Kids Stay and Play for Free to name a few.  There are also much deserved Military Discounts for active and retired military, allowing one of my military clients to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge for 40% off the regular rack rate!  Sometimes you will receive a "pin-code offer" from Disney via email or direct mailing.  These pin code promotions are usually better than the ones released to the general public, sometimes they are the same.  Disney Visa Cardholders will sometimes have access to special promotions, or earlier access than the general public.  Make sure you are on Disney's mailing lists for a chance of getting one of these special pin codes.

While Walt Disney World will on occasion have three promotions released at one time, you can only have one promotion applied to your reservation.  How do you know which one is the biggest money saver?  When you call Disney directly, some reservationists will tell you that Free Dining is always the best deal.  That is a common misconception.  The "best deal" depends on your party size, your resort, the ages of the people in your party, length of stay, etc.  Say you have two adults and one 3 year old in your party:  a room discount of 40% off the nightly room rate at the Polynesian will be the better deal than Free Dining.

I had a family whose dream was to stay at the Grand Floridian.  The Grand Floridian is "always" the most expensive resort on Disney property.  Therefore they chose to stay at the Contemporary Resort, still considered a deluxe resort but lower priced than the Floridian.  When a room discount promotion was released, something was telling me to check the reservation and compare it to the Grand Floridian.  Sure enough, the Grand Floridian was pricing out less than the Contemporary Resort.  I called the client and changed the reservation and their dream came true!

When you book a reservation directly with The Walt Disney Travel Company, reservationists are not allowed to mention to you (or me!) the current promotions.  You have to know the promotion and mention it upon booking.  Due to the enormous amount of guests they have, they couldn't possibly call a guest everytime a promotion is released after they have booked.

Why spend more than you have to?  One of the benefits of booking your vacation with a travel agent specializing in Disney Destinations, is the fact that we are trained to know all promotions going on every day of the year for all locations and book your vacation with the best money-saving promotion applied.  If you happen to book months in advance and there are no promotions released for your month at the time, you can book and your Disney Travel Agent will automatically apply the reservation for you and notify you of your savings.  I have had clients get emails from me telling them they have saved $1000 with free dining, $2000 with a room discount at a club-level room at the Beach Club, or they now currently have free park hopper and water park tickets!

I am shocked and saddened by the sheer amount of guests that are not aware that their Disney Vacation could have cost them hundreds, sometimes even thousands of dollars less.  My mission is to get my clients to Disney at the lowest price humanly possible.  Think of all the other things that money could go to: Mickey Ice Cream Bars, Dole Whips, Mickey Ear Hats.......
