St. Edmund's Retreat Center, 1 Enders Island, Mystic, CT 06355

&nbsp;This retreat offers a unique opportunity to reflect on the Seven Sorrows of Mary and discover their profound relevance to our own lives and spiritual journeys.
The retreat draws inspiration from the poignant prophecy of Simeon when Mary and Joseph presented Jesus at the Temple: "This child is destined for the falling and the rising of many in Israel… and a sword will pierce your own soul too" (Luke 2:34-35). These words foreshadow the deep suffering Mary would experience throughout her life, known as the Seven Sorrows.
During our time together, we will explore each of these sorrows, recognizing how they mirror the challenges, heartaches, and difficult moments we encounter on our personal paths. By delving into Mary's unwavering faith and resilience in the face of immense pain, we can gain deeper insights into our own struggles and find solace and strength. Through this shared reflection, we aim to understand more fully our individual journeys toward holiness and wholeness.
The retreat will begin with Check-In on Friday, May 15, at 4:30 PM, and will conclude on Sunday, May 17, at 11:00 AM.

Jesus said, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” 
(John 14: 1-3)
Through this day together, there will be instruction and time&nbsp; for mutual sharing.
The group will consider:
• Death and its many faces; the phenomenology of loss • The seemingly endless series of other ensuing losses; the complexity of Bereavement • Human internal response to loss; the pain of Grief • Human external response to loss; the panoply of Mourning • What is the Christian response to loss and suffering? • What is the gift of hope and healing for those who have lost someone they love? • How does one heal by the grace of God and His love? • How does one find strength in the midst of suffering?
The structure of the day will struggle to weave time together with time being alone; the group will be encouraged to share on all levels of experience, allowing for individual reticence and respecting the desire for mutuality. Doubts, fears, uncertainties, worries, questions…all are welcome, and all are pertinent to the group’s quest.
In order to provide opportunity for all retreatants to share, space on this retreat is limited to 15 attendees.
Mass will be celebrated at 9:00am in the Chapel of Our Lady, all are welcome to attend.

Sunday Jams at Deans Mill Farm  w. Robbed by Locals 

Join world-renowned iconographer Marek Czarnecki for a traditional icon workshop. Discover the spiritual and technical artistry behind sacred image-making in this immersive experience. Whether you are a beginner or have prior experience, you will learn the ancient techniques of traditional iconography. The specific icon to be painted will be announced soon. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn from a master and connect with a rich, living tradition.
All materials and tools needed to complete an icon are provided. Students attending the workshop should arrive with basic brush skills, a familiarity with the color wheel, and experience mixing colors.
This week-long workshop will include five consecutive days of studio time. Check-in begins Sunday night at 4:30 PM, followed by dinner at 5:30 PM for students and instructors. Dinner will be followed by a workshop introduction and conference, ending at 9:00 PM. Hands-on instruction begins early Monday morning, and the last meal will be lunch on Friday. The art studio will be available on Friday afternoon to complete your icon.

Deans Mill Farm 

Built in the mid-1700s as a functioning livestock farm, Deans Mill Farm has gone through an evolution in recent decades. A full renovation of the historic buildings and rejuvenation of the surrounding 70+ acres has made the property into the incredible venue it is today. Deans Mill Farm now operates primarily as a private event space and five-room bed and breakfast tucked down a private road in Stonington, Connecticut. It shares its property with Dragonfly Equestrian Center and is home to dozens of horses. On the property lies meadows, hiking trails, beautiful fields and Dragonfly Disc Golf. The property can be rented for weddings, birthday parties and other special events. Additionally, the bed and breakfast can be rented by the room or reserved in its entirety for complete privacy. The Farm has the ability to host small private indoor events for up to 50 guests in the Farmhouse.
