Fibrelite Corp. Closing Pawcatuck Facility

Fibrelite Corp, a British-owned company that manufactures composite manhole covers, will move its manufacturing facility on Mechanic Street in Pawcatuck to North Carolina sometime next year, The Day reports. 

Fibrelite, the world's largest manufacturer of composite manhole covers, was bought recently by Cincinnati-based OPW, a fluid-handling company, which is consolidated the Pawcatuck operation into one of its plants in Smithfield, NC. 

Most of the employees have been offered jobs at the new facility and a relocation package, and those who don't accept will get a transition package.
