Fire Breaks Out At Mystic Seaport Museum
A fire damaged a building at Mystic Seaport Museum on Saturday.
MYSTIC, CT — A fire broke out at Mystic Seaport over the weekend. A structure fire was reported at 11:44 a.m. Saturday at 75 Greenmanville Ave., according to the Mystic Fire Department.
The Mystic Fire Department responded within five minutes and found fire on the roof of the Ship Carver exhibit building in the Museum’s Seaport Village. Firefighters requested a first alarm which brought in mutual aid from the Old Mystic, Submarine Base, Poquonnock Bridge, Noank, and Ledyard Fire Departments and Mystic River Ambulance.
Firefighters knocked down the fire within 10 minutes, then stayed on scene to deal with any hot spots. Firefighters used tarps to protect equipment from water damage.

The fire was extinguished "immediately," according to Mystic Seaport Museum. There were no injuries.
The damage was contained to the Ship Carver building's roof.

The fire department cleared the scene at 12:52 p.m.
The museum remained open, and the Lantern Light Village event stayed on as scheduled for Saturday night.
The museum was working with authorities to investigate the fire.
Mystic Seaport Museum thanked the Mystic, Old Mystic, Poquonnock Bridge, and US Navy Fire Departments "for their quick action."
