Horses Healing Humans, It Takes A Village (Fair), and Kids Love Legos
Five cool things you need to know for today, Thursday July 25.

1. Forecasters blew it Wednesday. It poured in Mystic and Pawcatuck! And to think, I shared their call for a stellar day. Makes me want to put a disclaimer on every forecast. That said, if the forecasters always got it right, where would our surprises come from? They’re keeping us on our toes. So, anyway here’s the forecast (uh-hmm) for today: Cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers highs in the low- to-mid 70s.
2. Horses Healing Humans new Stonington location is being celebrated today at Starboard Stables, 340 New London Turnpike, Stonington from 5 to 7 p.m. with appetizers and libations. The event is being dubbed as a “great opportunity to meet the therapeutic herd, staff and volunteers, and watch riding demonstrations” at the stable where equine therapy helps to heal people with physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges. Pretty awesome. We wish them well in their new location!
3. Every Thursday at the Pawactuck Neighborhood Center seniors can enjoy line-dancing beginning at 9:30 and it’s also ‘game day’ until 2 with dominoes, checkers and other board games. And with this forecast, might just be a good day to sit with friends around a card table.

4. The Stonington Village Fair (the 64th!) is right around the corner but volunteers are still needed. The COMO is looking for “helpful individuals.” Shifts have been divided into 2-3 hour increments during Fair Day on Saturday, August 3. Tasks will include assisting with tickets, games, prize table, food vending, book sale, set up, break down and more! Every helping hand is needed and much appreciated. Last year over 100 volunteers helped to make the Village Fair a success. Volunteers under the age of 16 years old be accompanied by an adult. Click here to sign up.
5. Speaking of the COMO, this was Lego week at summer camp with Lego artwork and Lego-inspired activities. Anyone have any pictures to share? Post them on Patch!
