I-95 Fatal Wrong-Way Driver Collision Closes Highway
A wrong-way driver head-on collision with serious injuries and reported fatalities on I95 between exits 92 and 93 in North Stonington
NORTH STONINGTON, CT — A wrong way driver on I-95 northbound between exits 92 and 93 caused a head-on collision that has resulted in several injures including a reported "three unresponsive," the Hopkinton, RI Emergency Management Agency reported.
The accident occurred near the Connecticut-Rhode Island border.

It's being reported that two or three people may have been killed in the crash, which occurred around 8 p.m. There are at least seven total victims, according to reports, but the Connecticut State Police would only confirm the accident occurred, with the extent of injuries not known.

"Troop E was dispatched to 95 N in the area of x93 for reports of a motor vehicle accident. There are reported injuries of at least three individuals. The extent is unknown at this time," a CSP spokesperson wrote in an email response to a request for comment and details.
But a Rhode Island police source told Patch a teenage girl is one of those killed.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation reported that the highway was closed as a result of the two-car accident at 7:56 pm.

According to the regional police and emergency scanner, ambulance companies from Westerly, Ashaway, Stonington and North Stonington responded to the crash.
The I-95 corridor in Stonington has three exit ramps. It also has the second-highest rate of crashes per vehicle on the highway east of New Haven, according to the University of Connecticut Connecticut Crash Repository.
There were more than 2,940 crashes on the stretch of the Interstate in Stonington and North Stonington from September 2015 until September of 2019.
