Injuries Appear to Continue to Take a Toll on Maynard

It was unknown Wednesday if the five-term State Senator would appear at the Capitol in Hartford to start the new legislative session.

The mysteries surrounding State Sen. Andrew Maynard continue.

As fellow legislators prepared to begin this year’s session today, Feb. 3, neither Maynard nor the spokesperson for Senate Democrats have addressed the senator’s health status following two accidents in the past year that have left him injured.

The Day reports that Maynard suffered a traumatic brain injury in a fall at his Stonington home in July 2014, and in January of this year he suffered a concussion in a wrong-way automobile accident in Waterford.

He has not spoken to the media since before the 2014 accident, and his family admits he has struggled with his speech since that incident.
