International Observe The Moon Night

Saturday, October 12, 2013 is this year’s International Observe the Moon Night, and Frosty Drew Observatory will join thousands of similar facilities around the world in spotlighting our nearest neighbor, the Moon. The first quarter Moon will be in perfect position for spectacular up-close viewing in our telescopes and on our grounds.

In the Drew Sky Theatre, presentations about the moon and the exciting lunar missions that are taking place will be on display. Around the grounds video demonstrations of the Moon will be played showing fantastic imagery taken of the moon by Frosty Drew and other scientific institutions including the NASA Apollo program.

In addition, the Frosty Drew Nature Center will be open to the public. Our naturalists will be on site to give tours of and present the brighter side of Frosty Drew.

Come out for a fun Autumn night under the beautiful, clear, dark skies of Ninigret Park and become acquainted with our only natural satellite, the Moon!
