K9 Captures Domestic Violence Suspect

STONINGTON, CT — It was after 1 a.m. when state Trooper Kelo and his K9 partner Jack arrived in Stonington to help local police who'd called for help in tracking down a suspect who had fled into the woods.

Good call.

Troop E posted on Facebook and explained that Kelo and Jack arrived to help Stonington Police find a man who allegedly "caused a disturbance and damaged property." He'd taken off. State police said that K9 Jack, a 4-year-old German Shepard, led his partner and other officers "deep into a wooded forest."

After tracking more than "500 yards, going through numerous backyards until entering the forest ...in a heavily wooded area the suspect was located hiding behind a tree and was apprehended."

According to Stonington Police Capt. Todd Olson, Kurt D. Riley, 25, was charged with second-degree breach of peace and second-degree criminal mischief.
