Mystic Bookstore Among 10 Best in CT, According to List

The list encompasses a wide rage of interesting places, a few of which are not too far apart from each other.

In this digital age, it can be easy to forget the simple charm of a bookstore; a treasure trove of new worlds, experiences and information wrapped up in an experience both stimulating and tactile.

Connecticut boast a number of such stores, from the bigger chains like Barnes & Noble to smaller local options. It is among these smaller offerings one can often find the best experience.

With this in mind, Connecticut Magazine recently released a list of their 10 favorite independent bookstores from around the state. The list encompasses a wide rage of interesting places, a few of which are not too far apart from each other.

The Book Barn in Niantic earns first mention, with its 500,000 books and ever-changing stock serving as highlights. Not too far off in the distance, however, is Bank Square Books in Mystic.

Bank Square is highlighted for its self-described fierce independence as a bookstore. Its Reading Groups and Saturday storytimes also serve to draw those interested in for an afternoon of literary stimulation.

Of further note on the list is the inclusion of Brick Walk Bookshop in West Hartford, which specializes in fine art as well as fine books. The store mainly offers customers used books with a focus on art, all of which add up to a unique experience.

Stores in Bethel, Madison and Greenwich among other locations also score a mention.
