Mystic Native, Former Track Star Charged With Attempted Murder
A former Mystic man and Stanford University employee is under arrest for allegedly stabbing a woman multiple times while high on LSD.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Mystic native James Shirvell, 26, was arrested for attempted murder Sunday after he allegedly stabbed a woman multiple times while high on LSD, according to NBC. Shirvell faces charges of attempted murder, domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon.
NBC reported that the victim lives with Shirvell and that he stabbed her in the head, neck, and back. He is currently under observation at San Francisco County Jail.
Shirvell is a 2014 graduate of Yale University where he was a star middle-distance runner and broke numerous record times. Up until his arrest, he was an assistant director of admissions at Stanford University. The stabbing reportedly occurred in San Francisco's Potrero Hill neighborhood.

Shirvell has been put on leave at Stanford following news of the arrest, according to SFGATE.
