Mystic Seaport Museum Nominated For USA TODAY Award
Voters can weigh in on the nation's Best Maritime Museum, which the Mystic Seaport Museum was nominated for.
MYSTIC, CT ā Mystic Seaport Museum has been nominated for Best Maritime Museum in the USA Today 10Best Readersā Choice Awards, according to a recent announcement.
The national awards recognize travel and cultural destinations across the country. Nominees are selected by a panel of editors and subject-matter experts before being opened to public voting.

Public voting is underway and runs through Feb. 9, at 11:59 a.m. Winners will be announced Feb. 18, at noon. Go to USA Today 10Best to vote.
Mystic Seaport Museum was founded in 1929 to preserve artifacts from Americaās seafaring past. It has since grown into a center for maritime research and education.

The museumās campus includes a recreated 19th-century seaport village, exhibition spaces, and a working shipyard. Its collection features more than 500 historic watercraft.
Among the vessels is the 1841 whaleship Charles W. Morgan, a National Historic Landmark. The museum also houses additional landmark vessels and maritime artifacts.
The museum sits on 19 acres along the Mystic River in Mystic and includes exhibit halls and artifact storage facilities.
The USA TODAY 10Best Readersā Choice Awards are held annually and are decided through public participation.
