Old Mystic Fire Chief to Serve on National Fire Safety Panel
The panel will look into ways the job of a firefighter could be made safer.

MYSTIC, CT- Old Mystic Fire Chief Kenneth Richards will serve on a UL Fire Safety Research Institute national panel, the Westerly Sun reported.
The panel will determine ways fire departments could improve and do things differently in order to make a firefighter’s job safer, according to the Westerly Sun. It is a national effort that could impact the way live fire training is conducted both in the state and nationwide.
The project involves a three year study funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters grant program, the Westerly Sun reported. The inaugural meeting will be held on Aug. 11 in Philadelphia.
