The victim of a dog bite incident was awarded more than $259,000 after suing the family who owned the animal.

STONINGTON, CT - The victim of a dog bite incident was awarded more than $259,000 after suing the family who owned the animal, the New London Day reported. Court officials said the incident occurred on March 19, 2012.
Jacqueline Poisson, 73, alleged that Elizabeth and Dwayne Schramm's dog, Toby, crawled under a hedge and attacked her while the victim was walking her dog on Cutler Street, according to the New London Day. Poisson's lawyer said the dog bit her client in the abdomen and vulva.
Poisson said she suffered a concussion and has had to move in with her daughter after having issues taking care of herself following the incident, the New London Day reported. Court officials said the dog attacked the animal control officer after the incident and was subsequently euthanized.
