Pawcatuck Man Charged In Home Invasion & Assault Of Ex-Girlfriend
Walter W. Heibel III, 27, who has a criminal record with no jail time, was charged with a home invasion and an assault of his ex-girlfriend.

PAWCATUCK, CT—A 27-year-old Pawcatuck man was arrested for a home invasion and assault of his ex-girlfriend, according to a report in The Day.
Walter W. Heibel III, 27, of 259 North Anguilla Road, is alleged to have broken into the woman's house and attacked her Saturday morning.
According to a report, and confirmed by police, the former girlfriend told cops that Heibel, who has been ordered by a judge to stay away from her, broke in and assaulted her. Police said she was able to escape and ran to a neighboring business where she called 911. She suffered minor injuries during her escape, police said.

While investigating, police and K9 officer Odin searched her house, where there was evidence of a disturbance. But suspect Heibel had taken off. He was later found at another house and taken into custody.
Court records show Heibel was charged with home invasion, violation of a protective order, third-degree assault, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree unlawful restraint and second-degree breach of peace. He was held $100,000 bail and was slated to be arraigned today in New London Superior Court.

Heibel has a history of violating a protective order, violating probation and breach of peace cases. He's spent virtually no time in jail, according to online court records.
Court records show Heibel has an existing, open case from July 1, where he was charged by Stonington Police with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. He was let go on a promise to appear in court. That court date is set for Sept. 20. .
Heibel spent 90 days in jail after pleading guilty in 2018 to second-degree breach of peace.
In 2014, he was arrested by Connecticut State Police Troop D for violating a protective order. He pleaded guilty and was handed a five-year sentence in prison, but it was suspended and he was given probation instead. In 2018, he violated that probation and again, instead of prison, that sentence too was suspended.
Heibel also had a Stonington breach of peace case from January of 2017 and, after pleading guilty, received a suspended 30-day jail sentence.
