The Pawcatuck-North Stonington major softball All-stars played their second game Friday evening at PLL. The night prior the team defeated East Lyme 17-0. Tonights game verses the other Lyme team ended in similar fashion, 16-1 PLL-NS victory. The game was halted after four innings due to the mercy rule.
After one inning PLL-NS had a 3-0 lead. After loading the bases with three Lyme walks Abby Flakus drove in a run by way of a fielders choice. The Lyme pitcher then tried to pick off Erin Craig at third base yet the throw was wild and Craig and Flakus scored.
PLL-NS collected two more runs in the second through a combination of walks, pass balls and a single by Colette Dreher. In the third inning the team collected three more runs as the bats started to deliver. Dani Coan started things off with a single, Colette Dreher doubled, Trinity Lennon singled and Abby Flakus delivered another single. At the end of three the score was 8-1.

PLL-NS sent 17 batters to the plate in the forth inning and added eight more runs. Singles were provided by Kendra Perez (2), Abby Flakus and Briana Beverly. Trinity Lennon added a double.
The pitching was impressive for the second consecutive game. The combination of Kendra Perez and Trinity Lennon combined for a no hitter and 10 strikeouts. The pair has pitched eight innings in tournament play and allowed only one hit.

The team has the weekend off and will play New London at Bates Park Monday night 6:00PM. They return to PLL Tuesday evening 5:30 verses Salem/Bozrah. that will be the final game of the four game pool play. There will be a single “play in” game on Thursday, at PLL, for the right to play for the District championship.
