Police Investigate Attempted Armed Home Invasion In Stonington
Police have arrested a suspect following an attempted armed home invasion at a Stonington home Tuesday night.
STONINGTON, CT — Police are investigating following an attempted armed home invasion Tuesday night. Police received a call at 9:46 p.m. from 120 Liberty St. reporting that several armed people came to a back porch and attempted to gain entry.
When confronted by the people in the home, the suspects ran off and fired a shot toward the house as they left the property.
Police arrived and found a suspicious van on Liberty Street. When officers approached, one suspect fled on foot and the other was detained. Police said the detained suspect was involved in the attempted home invasion and was arrested.

Police later determined the van was stolen out of New York.
Stonington police along with Westerly police and state police closed part of Liberty Street while checking the area for other suspects. K-9s attempted to track the suspects, and the Pawcatuck Fire Department utilized their drone with infrared imaging to check the area as well.

An Everbridge message was sent out to the area explaining the police activity and requested that suspicious activity be reported to the police, according to a police statement.
The case remains under investigation.
