Protecting Your Furniture From Pets

Oftentimes I'm called in to make a custom slipcover because the owners' lovely pet also sleeps on the furniture. I mean they're part of the family, so why not.

Let's face it dogs and cats have nails, fur, and sometimes have accidents, all of which can raise havoc to your lovely furniture. But there is a way to keep peace in the family with you loved pet – it's a "pet cover" for your furniture.

Pet covers are an easy and budget-friendly way to protect furniture from dogs, cats, pet fur, and stains. Pet-protecting  covers are great for sofas, loveseats, chairs, beds - almost any furniture in your home.

I make custom pet covers that are molded to fit your couch, love seat, or chair.  You leave the cover on your chair most every day an let your pet enjoy lying in the chair.

They install quickly and easily: simply drape over your furniture and protect the seat, back and arms from pet wear and tear.

When company comes, you merely remove the cover and show off your beautiful furniture in it's pristine state, no animal damage.  When the company leaves, you put the cover back on. 

Not to worry, your house isn't going to look like it's covered in gunny sacks just for your pet. The cover is meant to coordinate with the existing upholstery or slipcover you already have.  Typically, the cover is made of 100% cotton material, I strongly recommend denim since it can take more animal abuse. And, it can be washed should Fido have an accident.

Because, the entire couch or chair doesn't have to be covered, it costs a lot less in both material and labor.  I only have to cut and stitch to cover the area that the pet will come in contact with. 

Typically a pet cover can be customized for about 25 % of what a replacement slipcover would cost.  It's a great insurance policy to protect your furniture asset and lessen the stress with your pets.

One last thing, if you have expensive interior in your car and love to take your dog for a drive, consider a throw for your car. When you travel, protect your vehicle's interior from pet hair and stains with a custom fitted throw.
