STONINGTON, CT – An amendment has been filed by U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney to the Water Resources Development Act in the House of Representatives, the Westerly Sun reported.

The amendment would put the Old Stonington Wharf back in local control, the Westerly Sun reported. If passed, a local committee would be given the go-ahead to start planning a restoration.

The current two versions of the bill would need to be reconciled before final passage, the Westerly Sun reported. Courtney said he will continue to press his colleagues to make sure the amendment is included in the finalize bill.
