Simmons told The Westerly Sun that he met with Pres. Donald Trump Tuesday. In Washington D.C. as part of the Northeast State Leadership Day, Simmons said Trump shook his hand and Simmons said he told Trump about how "over regulation" affects Stonington's fishing fleet, the last in the state. Simmons showed Trump a bumper sticker he'd made and he said the president signed it for him.
