Sails
Up 4 Cancer is excited to announce the details for the 2013 Annual Regatta Weekend
taking place on June 22 & 23.  This
Regatta is open to all sailors and all classes. 
There is even a “Picnic Fleet” for the non-racer.  Entry forms and additional information may be
found on the su4c.org website.

This
year’s Skipper’s meeting will be held on Friday, June 21st 1800
hours, at the home of the Mystic River Yacht Club, the Regattas sponsor.  The facility is located in the heart of
downtown Mystic at Schooner Wharf, 14 Holmes Street.  Scratch sheets and sailing instructions will
be distributed and all sailors and crew are welcomed to attend. 

The
Regatta’s first gun is set for 1130 hours in Fishers Island Sound on Saturday,
June 22nd.  This is an ECSA sanctioned
race and good for points. Following the race the Post Regatta Shore Party will
be held under the tent at the Mystic Yachting Center, 100 Essex Street, Mystic,
beginning at 1700 hours.

This
year, Sails Up 4 Cancer along with the Mystic River Yacht Club will be lighting
up the grill for a BBQ, with entertainment by “Rock & Soul Revue with
Special Guests”.  There will be an open
bar with wine and beer plus the famous Dark- n- Stormy Stations. Live &
Silent auctions and Awards ceremony will be held during the evening

Sails
Up 4 Cancer will be holding its Complementary Alternative Medicine Expo under
the tent on Sunday, June 23rd.  If you missed it last year, here’s your chance
to catch it. Sails Up will have an array of exhibitors offering information for
healthy living and healthy lifestyles. 
Attendees will be able to receive information on acupuncture, yoga,
massage, nutrition, meditation and pre-cancerous screenings to name but a few.  There will also be lectures, demonstrations,
and entertainment by “Friends of the Mystic Blues Festival”.  This event is free and open to the public.

L+M Cancer Hospital

And
once again this year, Sails Up 4 Cancer will pay tribute to the children
battlling cancer by hosting their special guests of honor, “The Sunshine
Kids”.  The children will sail down the
Mystic River aboard the Schooner Argia to watch the start of the race. Upon
returning to the Agia’s dock at Schooner Wharf the Kids will get the “Mighty
Mystic Welcome” where they will be greeted by the Pirates, Freeman of the Sea,
& the Mystic Fire Department. Following the sail & warm welcome the
Kids will be treated to lunch at the Mystic River Yacht Club with pizza from
the famous Mystic Pizza and walk across the street for dessert by the equally
famous Drawbridge Ice Cream Parlor. All in all a beautiful, fun filled day for
the Kids.
