State Medical Examining Board Rejects Stonington Physician’s Consent Order

The suspect did not contest the allegations in the consent order, while also admitting no wrongdoing.

STONINGTON, CT – A Stonington physician’s consent order for a large fine was rejected Tuesday by the state Medical Examining Board, C-HIT reported.

The order would fine Dr. David Burchenal $3,000 for failing to provide adequate follow-up care for a patient, according to C-HIT. The patient later died of cancer.

Some members of the board felt Burchenal deserved a harsher punishment, given the patient death, C-HIT reported. The suspect did not contest the allegations in the consent order, while also admitting no wrongdoing.
