State Police Investigation At Barn Island: 'No Danger To Public'
What exactly state police are investigating they've declined to say, but Patch was told that it "has nothing to do with human remains."

STONINGTON, CT ā State police have confirmed for Patch that an investigation is underway at Barn Island. And though law enforcement has declined to describe what precisely they are investigating, it's noted that there is no danger to the public, and "it's not human remains," Patch was told.
Officials from the state department of Energy and Environmental Protection and EnCon Police were at Barn Island late Monday into early Tuesday. Patch was told the matter is criminal and since Barn Island is a state-owned property, it's under the jurisdiction of the state police.
Stonington police were originally on the scene, Capt. Todd Olson said, but the matter was handed off. Olson did say that it is "important the community knows there is definitely no danger to the public."

And he said that after several hours of the area being closed and cordoned off, Barn Island is again open.
State police spokesperson Sgt. Dawn Pagan told Patch that the "case is currently under investigation and is being conducted by the State Police Bureau of Special Investigations."

She said she was unable to provide any other information. And added, the investigation "has nothing to do with human remains."
