State Sen. Maynard Withdraws Lawsuit Against Former Landlord for Traumatic Fall

The state senator has withdrawn a lawsuit filed against his former landlord over an alleged defective staircase.

STONINGTON, CT - State Sen. Andrew Maynard, D18th District has withdrawn a lawsuit he had filed against his former landlord, The Day reported.

Maynard had previously filed a lawsuit against landlord Dorothy Papp, alleging that a defective staircase at his Grandview Avenue apartment cause him to fall in July 2014, according to The Day. The fall caused Maynard to suffer traumatic brain damage.

The injury has caused Maynard a number of difficulties, including effecting his ability to speak and drive. He was involved in a car accident in Waterford earlier this year after having a seizure while driving.

Despite being in rehabilitation, Maynard won re-election in 2014. He did not seek re-election this week.
