State Senator Sues Stonington Landlord Over Staircase Fall
The lawsuit claims the staircase was not up to code.

STONINGTON, CT – State Senator Andrew Maynard has filed suit against his former landlord over a staircase, according to The Day.
Maynard claimed in the lawsuit that the staircase at his former Grandview Avenue apartment caused him to fall in July 2014 and suffer a traumatic brain injury, according to The Day. The injury has made it difficult for Maynard to speak and function at times.
The lawsuit also blames the injury for a seizure Maynard suffered while driving that caused him to crash his car in January, according to The Day. The suit cites numerous building codes it alleges the stairwell, and by extension the landlord, violated.
