STONINGTON, CT — The town's Board of Selectmen recently passed a resolution to allow residents and business owners to apply for a tax deferral, according to The Westerly Sun. The effort is an attempt to help those who have recently been laid off or furloughed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The measure was passed unanimously. The measure covers both tax and sewer bills. First Selectman Danielle Chesebrough told The Westerly Sun that she believed it was important for the town to take "quick, decisive action to help our taxpayers and businesses during these unprecedented times."
