Stonington Crew Wins Seven, Sets Sights on State Championships

Continuing their winning ways, Stonington Crew took top spots in all seven races against fellow (CPSRA) teams EO Smith and Middletown.

MIDDLETOWN, CT – Continuing their winning ways, Stonington Crew took top spots in all seven races against fellow Connecticut Public Schools Rowing Association (CPSRA) teams EO Smith and Middletown.

ā€œIt was a good day of racing from all boats,ā€ Head Coach and Boys Varsity Coach Tyler Page said in a release. ā€œWe will take the momentum from today into the CPSRA Championships next weekend, as we defend our state title.ā€ (To sign up for Stonington/Mystic breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

In 2016, Stonington won the Boys Varsity 1 and Varsity 2 events and medalled in four others. The team will race a dozen other public high school rowing teams at this year’s championship regatta on Sunday, May 21 at Lake Waramaug State Park in New Preston.

ā€œSuccess, like the team had today, can improve a boat’s seeding,ā€ Varsity Girls Head Coach Maria Brown said in a release. ā€œIdeally, we earn favorable spots in the heats as we try to qualify for the finals.ā€
