Stonington Fire Begins in Mulch, Leaves Home Uninhabitable
A couple awoke to the smell and sight of thick smoke in their home.

STONINGTON, CT – A fire was extinguished by firefighters early Wednesday morning that began in some mulch, The Day reported.
The couple living at the Elm Ridge Road residence were awoken by thick smoke and able to escape without injury, The Day reported. Firefighters responded and spent about 30 minutes putting out the fire.
Fire officials said the fire began in some mulch, then ignited home’s vinyl siding, The Day reported. Officials also determined that the home sustained damage and will not be habitable for a few days.
