According to the Red Cross, blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer donors. With someone in the United States needing blood every two seconds, supplies must be continuously replenished to meet demand.

Organizers are encouraging donors of all blood types to participate, with a particular need for O negative, A negative, and B negative blood types.
