Rep. Urban recently spoke at a summit on innovations in government.

Children’s Committee House Chair Diana Urban (D-Stonington) recently gave the keynote address at the Global Outcomes-based Accountability Summit held in Belfast, speaking on “Innovations in Government”.
Urban shared the Children’s Committee successful experience using the Connecticut Children’s Report Card to evaluate the effectiveness of state programs, according to a release.
Urban was also one of four dignitaries to meet with leaders of the Parliament of Northern Ireland to discuss the benefits of an outcomes-based approach for delivery of government services.

“I was honored to have the opportunity to meet with members of Parliament from Northern Ireland," Urban said in a release. "I am always happy to share the Children’s Committee’s experience with the Children’s Report Card, which has enabled us to identify the most critical needs of kids in our state and craft legislation directly addressing those issues. Now more than ever, we need to protect the services that benefit vulnerable children while making fiscally responsible decisions regarding state programs – the Report Card has allowed us to do that.”
Beginning in 2012, the Committee on Children began publishing an annual Children’s Report Card. Based on indicators of children’s wellbeing, the report card provides the committee with the information needed to develop legislation that responds to the needs of Connecticut children.
