Susan Adam's New Business: Edgy, Chic, Elegant...Gira!
Events And Floral Design And Planning: New York To Beverly Hills And Around The Block
Susan Adam feels the same about designing for tony events in New York City and Beverly Hills as she does creating a diminutive single floral centerpiece for a neighbor’s dinner party.
“I do, I love it all,” said the self-proclaimed reinvented, starving artist, perhaps now not-quite-so-hungry businesswoman.
But she is always looking forward to business walking through the door at the Velvet Mill Studio where she runs her business , a colloquial Portuguese term to describe something or someone “elegant, edgy, or chic,” Adam said.

Gira! is an event and floral business focused on providing customers an overview design. The business employs Adam's experience with flora and her eye for “color, texture and light” for events from a two-person dinner party to a large-scale soirée  and everything in between—and then delivering, item by item based on budget, what “will work and look beautiful.”
“I come in, ask what you like, what you’re doing, what the event is about and who for and then I give my ideas, opinion and offer suggestions and an itemized list and [clients] can choose what works, what they’d like [from] a gorgeous linen napkin set to a special [arrangement],” she explained, adding that her expertise “doesn’t end at the tabletop.”

Adam is an artist with a good eye, and a certain flair that helped her to decide that event décor was the right move for her.
And because, as she said, “in life it’s always about whom you know, but it’s also about bringing the goods to back it up,” she’s coordinated events and provided décor and floral arrangements for high-profile celebrity-studded events, including the Somaly Mam Foundation Project Futures launch events and galas in New York and Beverly Hills.
But Adam has also done local weddings, events, fundraisers and parties including Art in Bloom at the in Watch Hill to benefit Westerly Adult Day Center, Lawrence & Memorial’s annual gala, and the Noank Group Home annual Gala and Silent Auction. She is an authorized vendor at both area casinos.
Adam said she’s looking forward to designing for holiday parties and events and stressed that while she has a number of large and high-profile clients, she believes it’s just as important to “make one arrangement and deliver it down the street.”
