The Dog Watch Cafe Needs Your Vote

Stonington's Dog Watch Cafe Is Nominated For Wight Vodka's Best Yachting Bar Competition.

ï»żWhat do the British Virgin Islands, Annapolis, Newport, United Kingdom, Bermuda, Hong Kong, and Stonington all have in common? They all have bars nominated for Wight Vodka's Best Yachting Bar Competition.

That's right. Stonington's very own is one of 10 nominees. To win, they need your help. What better way to get over the wintertime blues then to vote for one of your favorite water-side bars?

From now until Dec. 27 anyone with access to the Internet can vote for one of the 10 bars. The catch? You can only vote once.

The winner will be announced on Dec. 31 and receive a certificate of their win, Wight Vodka Regatta Caps, and a signed bottle of Wight Vodka. And of course, bragging rights. So let's bring it home for our community.

Dog Watch Cafe owners Clay Burkhalter and Dave Eck were surprised to hear of the nomination—they learned about it from overhearing a customer—now they are  telling everyone they know to vote.

Wight Vodka and Scuttlebutt Europe started the competition last year. Last year's winner was Peter-Café Sport in Horta Azores, Portugal.

The nominations are based on submissions that Wight Vodka, with the help of Scuttlebutt Europe, finalizes down to a list of ten bars based on a number of factors, including the amount of nominations a bar received.

This year's other finalists include: Foxy's in the British Virgin Islands, The Bitter End Yacht Club in the British Virgin Islands, The Boatyard Bar & Grill in Annapolis, Maryland, The Candy Store in Newport, Rhode Island, The King & Queen in Hamble, England, The Little Ship Club in London England, The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club in Bermuda, The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club in Hong Kong, and The Soggy Dollar in the British Virgin Islands.

But really the only one that matters is the Dog Watchâ€”ï»żso get out there, I mean online, and vote.
