The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center is celebrating another glorious summer and four years of programming at the Kate with the Annual Gala celebration on Saturday, August 24 at 6:00 pm. This year, guests will return to the Kate for cocktails and specialties from the River Tavern under a tent on the green, before a live auction in the Center and performance by Paula Poundstone.
Famous for her razor-sharp wit and spontaneity, Ms. Poundstone most recently appeared at the Kate in the simulcast of "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me," NPR's "oddly informative", weekly news quiz program. Paula has been a regular panelist on that wildly popular show for seven years and her razor-sharp wit and spontaneity come to the fore just as they do in all her live appearances. The Boston Globe says, "Poundstone improvises with a crowd like a Jazz musician' swinging in unexpected directions without a plan, without a net."
You will be well fortified for this rapid fire hilarity with savory fare from Chester's River Tavern, which was recently voted the #1 area restaurant by readers of the E-List. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in The Gala’s silent and live auctions throughout the night, both offering an extensive assortment of exciting items.
