Timberrr!!! Former Partners Unite To Cut Trees, Help A Neighbor (with Video)
They Climb And Cut And Work And Seem To Have Fun Doing It
When the giant tree fell between Tyler Parsons’s home and his neighbor’s home on Meetinghouse Lane, he knew what to do.
He called Leo Rioux, his former tree-cutting partner, and the two set to work. Their hope was to get the tree cut before his neighbor came home. Parsons knew the sight would freak her out.
It’s a huge tree, and, says Parsons, “It’s got some widow-makers in it.”

These days, Rioux mainly does remodeling, and Parsons works in a scrap yard.
But they still get together to cut down trees.

Rioux, who has scrambled up the leaning trunk, says he usually wears a harness, but this time, the angle was low enough to let him just climb.
The tree-cutting doesn’t go so smoothly. The chain saw gets stuck at one point – they say this happens often, and it doesn’t worry them – and Parsons has to use a truck to tug at the treetop.
Rioux and Parsons can be reached at 860-367-0798, where you can also leave a message. Rioux and Parsons will cut trees throughout New London County.
“We also do bar mitzvas,” Rioux says.
The Stonington Town Landfill is open and disposal fees for hurricane damage related items have been waived.
