Today in Stonington: West African Dance, Bridge Brouhaha and Summer Storms?

Five things for Tuesday July 23 that just might make your day.

1. Today’s weather forecast calls for a 50-50 chance of a thunderstorm with high humidity and temps in the low-to mid-80s.  Summer, basically.

2. The Water Pollution Control Authority meets today at 6:30 at the Police Station meeting room to discuss, among other agenda items, budget issues and the wastewater treatment plant upgrade.

3. In case you missed it, Patch went inside and under the Mystic River Bridge with the project manager to get to the bottom of why the historic bascule bridge keeps getting stuck. Here’s the answer.

4. Check out the Watch Hill Village ‘Summer Music on the Green’ tonight at 6 featuring local (and awesome) reggae band Soulshot; free admission and free parking. Wonder if Taylor will show up? (Kidding!)

5.  A very cool traditional West African Dance Class at La Grua tonight at 7:30.  This is an all-ages class that includes floor exercises and a break down of a traditional dance featuring live percussion. Check LaGrua’s website for more info.
