Westerly Duo Charged In Stonington Burglary
Kailey J. Herbert, 27, and Justin Roberts, 35, were charged in a Pequot Trail burglary. Herbert was out on bail on a Westerly drug case.

STONINGTON, CT—Discovered by a Pequot Trail homeowner inside her living room holding a crowbar, Westerly resident Kailey J. Herbert was charged by police with burglary. According to Stonington Police, a report in The Day, and court records, Saturday night Sept., 14, Herbert, 27, of 7 Valley Drive, and Justin Roberts, 35, of 128 High St., Apt. C, also in Westerly, drove onto a Stonington resident’s property and, it’s alleged, Herbert opened an “unlocked door” carrying a crowbar. When confronted by the homeowner, Herbert took off claiming she was in the wrong house.
Police located Herbert and Roberts at the residence next door where that person claimed to know and have been expecting Herbert.
According to a Day report, Herbert was charged with first-degree burglary and breach of peace and Roberts was charged with criminal liability to commit first-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, and breach of peace. Both were held on $5,000 bond and are slated to be arraigned today.

But Herbert was already out on bail in Rhode Island.
Last week, on Sept. 10, she was arrested and charged by Westerly Police with three counts of narcotics possession and one count of possession with the intent to sell. She posted $500 surety on a $5000 bond and walked out of jail. It’s alleged she committed the burglary in Stonington three days later.

Westerly Police Chief Shawn Lacey said Herbert has a court date for the Rhode Island charges and "if she doesn’t show a warrant will be issued."
Herbert pleaded no contest to a Westerly Police charge of receiving stolen goods in 2011. Sentenced to probation, she would over the course of four years violate a number of times and be re-arrested.
Arrested for shoplifting in 2012, that case was dismissed. And another case from 2012, a domestic was also dismissed in court. This past summer she was found guilty of driving without a license.
