3 Stratford EMS Paramedic & 2 EMT's Honored by St. Vincent's Medical Center (Hartford Healthcare) - Annual EMS Awards

3 Stratford EMS Paramedics & 2 EMTs Honored by St. Vincent’s Medical Center

STRATFORD, CT – 3 Stratford EMS Paramedics & 2 EMTs were recognized in a beautiful ceremony Thursday, put on by St. Vincent's Medical Center (Hartford Healthcare) as part of their Annual EMS Values Recognition Awards. This event coincides with next weeks "National EMS Week" May 21-27. The St. Vincent’s Medical Center Emergency Medical Services Values Recognition Award is a special commendation that celebrates an EMS provider who has demonstrated the core values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and empathy while providing selfless service that is patient focused.


Criteria for Nomination:

  • The act is considered above and beyond the nominee’s work responsibilities
  • The act benefited another person, patient, fellow employee, or the community
  • The nominee received no personal gain
  • The nominee consistently demonstrates the core values listed above

Full Time Paramedic Jack Rodican regularly goes above and beyond for patients by taking extra time to provide them with coordination and logistical support. Rodican will call and schedule follow-up appointments with the patient's primary providers and educate the patient on how the healthcare system works in an effort to empower them to take control of their healthcare and advocate for themselves.

Full Time Paramedic Louis Bronson and his partner Volunteer EMT Christopher Fresilli received recognition for a call for a cancer patient who was actively dying. Their work with the family helped to help ease their anguish and honor the patients' wishes.


Full Time Paramedic Alex Lenches regularly goes above and beyond in the discharge of his duties. He works with his supervisors and even leads others toward professional attitudes and collaboration that helps the organization run more efficiently.

Finally, FT Executive Assistant/EMT, Nancy Sengstacken was recognized for her unwavering support, mentorship and dedication to SEMS in the execution of her duties as executive assistant. She is a constant and integral part of what makes SEMS effective and running smoothly. She was also strong member of our COVID response team giving countless hours to our COVID clinics, vaccinating hundreds of residents.


“I am so proud of all of our providers at SEMS. Jack; Louis; Alex; Chris and Nancy, stood out for this year as exemplifying the core values of St. Vincent's award program. Our staff work tirelessly to offer high quality and professional services to the residents of the Town. I cannot underscore enough, how this team makes me proud and I am confident that they represent the best of Stratford!” said Michael Loiz, Director of EMS.


Public Safety Director, Larry Ciccarelli said, "Congratulations to Jack, Louis, Alex, Chris and Nancy. What amazes me is not only their performance that resulted in this award, but their work on a daily basis operating in an ever changing continuum. Though these professionals do not seek applause, this recognition is well-deserved. I and the community they support, thank them for their outstanding service."

The ceremony was held at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport at 5:00 p on May 18, 2023.
