A Stratford Firefighter's 'Typical Day' on Display at Oct. 20 Open House
'Real life' fire demonstrations and more at this year's fire department open house.

The Stratford Fire Department is proud to announce our annual open house on October 20, 2012 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
We invite you and your family to join us at Stratford Fire Headquarters, 2750 Main St and spend the day learning about the Stratford Fire Department as well as fire safety.
The day will begin with a pancake breakfast scheduled from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at a cost of $5 per person.

All proceeds will benefit the Stratford Professional Firefighter's Burn Foundation, a charity devoted to assisting burn victims through many programs including but certainly not limited to a summer camp for pediatric burn victims and the construction of a new burn suite in Bridgeport Hospital.
The heat of the day will come from the "real life" fire demonstrations that the firefighters will enact throughout the day. This demonstration will show how a fire will spread within a typical room found in any home. The fire demonstrations will highlight the importance of early warning detection, (smoke alarms) and how staying low, getting out and calling 911 for help may be your only option.

The open house will also feature the actions of Firefighters systematically working their way through a motor vehicle with some of the many rescue tools they use on a daily basis. Exciting demonstrations and educational information about fire safety will also be provided throughout the day.
Firefighters will demonstrate and give the opportunity to your children to practice the proper way to exit their home in the event of a fire. This will be done using a "smoke trailer" that is designed to teach others safety features related to the everyday residential use.
While attending our open house we hope you'll also take advantage of a tour of the firehouse and trucks and learn about what a typical day is like for at the Stratford Fire Department.
