Beat the Heat at the Library

Stratford Library offers more than just books.

As temperatures climb and we move into the dog days of summer, there is one place on Main street that has both the air conditioning -- and the entertainment -- to keep you and your kids from burning up entirely.

And best of all, there is no charge.

It’s the Stratford Library, and it has a whole agenda of exciting events to benefit you within its friendly confines. Here is a look at what they have to offer this week and beyond.

Running all month, the July Art Exhibit features Stratford photographer Ken Blumberg. Blumberg, a Stratford resident for over twenty years, is a passionate, published and prized artist with over forty years of experience. Viewing hours are Monday thru Thursday, 10 to 8, and Friday thru Saturday, 10 to 5. Blumberg’s photographs will rotate until the end of the display on August 31. The exhibit is located in the main lobby.

The Adult Summer Reading Program continues its practice of offering participants the opportunity to win prizes while reading any book of their choice. This promotion requires attending no meetings and does not mandate the reading of books from any specific list. Once a ticket is filled out with the title of your chosen book, you will be eligible for the drawings. Drawings will be held periodically throughout the summer and prizes include gift certificates from a variety of local establishments guaranteed to be worth your while.
