Boat Found Capsized Near Stratford; Good Samaritan Offers Aid

The 18-foot vessel was found in the Long Island Sound near Stratford.

STRATFORD, CT — A boater was found safe after their vessel was discovered capsized in the Long Island Sound near Stratford.

A Good Samaritan rescued the boater, according to a Facebook post from the U.S. Coast Guard timestamped about 9:30 a.m. Friday, which said the boater's 18-foot vessel had been found between Stratford Point and the Stratford Shoal middle ground lighthouse. A Stratford Fire Department boat assisted the Coast Guard with the discovery of the vessel and resulting search, Stratford Professional Firefighters IAFF 998 said in a Facebook post.

“We were relieved to hear that the owner was located safe and sound,” the firefighters’ union said.
