Puttin' On The Ritz

You’re invited to join a trip down Memory Lane with Jeffrey Williams as he reminisces about Bridgeport’s historic Ritz Ballroom, on Thursday, August 16, 12:30 p.m. at the Baldwin Center.

Williams presentations and his book, HOME OF HAPPY DANCERS – The Story of Bridgeport, Connecticut’s Ritz Ballroom, bring to light not only the facts people remember, but a great deal of little known detail.  His audiences are often riveted as the year’s melt away and they are once again in the teens and twenties, dancing to the music of Miller, Dorsey, Basie and other legendary big band leaders.  Special stories of first-hand conversations with Big Band greats such as Artie Shaw and Les Brown will be included.  The presentation will also include time for folks to share their own stories about the fabled dance palace,

Jeffrey C. Williams produces and hosts Fairfield county’s At The Ritz! radio show, formerly The Ritz Ballroom Hour. Now in its 15th year, the show broadcasts live from 3-4 P.M., Saturdays, on WVOF 88.5 FM, from the campus studios of Fairfield University.  He recently completed a book on the RITZ BALLROOM and continues to publish his yearly Bridgeport By The Sea calendars.
