Firefighters Called To Stratford Kitchen Blaze

STRATFORD, CT — There were no injuries when Stratford officials were called early Friday to a kitchen fire.

Stratford emergency personnel were alerted just before 5 a.m. to a medical alarm from a two-family residence on Marsh Way, according to a fire department news release. Police and Emergency Medical Service responders sent to the scene found smoke coming from a second-floor window, saw fire in a rear kitchen window, and contacted the fire department.

Police forced entry to the building, discovered heavy smoke in a living room and yelled to residents to evacuate, helping one occupant, according to the news release.

Firefighters found a blaze in a kitchen that was partially extinguished and ensured the fire was completely out, according to the news release. The Stratford Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.

“The Stratford Fire Department reminds residents to have and maintain smoke alarms,” the news release said.
