Former Stratford Teacher’s Aide Rejects Plea Deal in Sex Case: Report

The woman is accused of sexually assaulting two teenage boys, including one who had been a preschool student of hers.

STRATFORD, CT — Former Stratford teacher’s aide Kyle Damato-Kushel, 46, has rejected a plea deal and will go to trial on charges that she sexually assaulted two teenage boys, including one who had been a preschool student of hers, according to the Connecticut Post.

Daniel Tepfer of the Post reports that Damato-Kushel had faced up to four years in prison under the plea deal but told the judge on Thursday that she wanted a trial.

Stratford Police arrested Damato-Kushel in December of last year following an investigation that began Oct. 1 when police were contacted regarding allegations of inappropriate conduct by an adult female and a juvenile victim.

The 15-year-old victim told police that he had been having sex with Damato-Kushel since 2013 when he was in seventh grade and the relationship was discovered by Damato-Kushel’s husband in their Stratford home, according to previous reports.

Damato-Kushel was later arrested by Trumbull Police in January for allegedly having sexual contact with the victim’s 16-year-old friend at the Trumbull Marriott.

Damato-Kushel later picked up both boys and took them, along with her daughters, now ages 8 and 15, to the Trumbull Marriott and had sexual contact with both boys while in a room at the hotel with her daughters present, according to the Post.
