In the Details: Untended Road

She struggles to see herself, perfectly.

This week I am writing on the theme of "beauty."

Untended Road

Find out what's happening in Stratfordfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

I'd like to hand to you
(Just as easy as
The butcher hands me
The fresh cut meat in crackling
Paper)
The way you are
Untended.

You talk about YOU
As if you were a
Made-in-China
Tag sale
Drinking glass
Smashed on the floor.

You talk about YOU
(As if you can see
HER at all) by rattling off
Ticked boxes of mistakes and
Failures, harmonized against
Some imaginary
Melody of YOU.

Find out what's happening in Stratfordfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

I'd like to
Show you the path down
The untended road,
Humming. Where chokecherry
Hides the
Hermit thrush nest.
Away from the answers and
Questions and with
HER so busy
Singing
YOU can't hear
Anything else at all.
