Man, 19, Carjacked Woman While She Was Getting Gas: Stratford Police
Police said the victim physically confronted the suspect and was dragged about 20 feet before she was let go from the fleeing vehicle.
STRATFORD, CT — A New Haven man has been arrested in connection with a carjacking late last year in Stratford, according to police.
The carjacking happened at the gas station at 2980 Main St. in Stratford on Dec. 20, 2021, according to police.
Police said the victim left her vehicle running with the driver door slightly ajar while getting gas. An SUV pulled up next to her vehicle and the suspect got into the driver seat of her car, according to police.

“The victim realized what was happening and ran to the driver door of her car and engaged in a physical altercation with the suspect,” police wrote in a news release. “The victim tried to remove him from her vehicle but was unsuccessful.”
The suspect then drove off in the victim’s vehicle and dragged her about 20 feet before she was let go from the fleeing vehicle, according to police.

Police said Tayvion Hart was identified as the suspect following an extensive investigation. Hart is currently incarcerated on similar charges from various police departments, according to Stratford police.
Hart, 19, was arrested Aug. 31 on a warrant and charged with first-degree larceny, second-degree robbery, second-degree assault and refusal of fingerprints. He was being held in lieu of a $150,000 bond with a court date of Oct. 7, according to state judicial records.
