Ganim beat Mayor Bill Finch and opponent Mary Jane-Foster in the primary this year. Finch dropped out of the race in September after his new party, the Job Creation Party did not file proper paperwork to get on the November ballot, according to the Hartford Courant.
Instead he opted to endorse his former challenger Mary Jane-Foster. Republican Enrique Torres also ran.
Ganim ran on a platform that he was already a successful mayor in Bridgeport and that he helped cut crime and kept taxes from increasing during his tenure.
