Stratford Police recovered a body in the Housatonic River on Wednesday.

STRATFORD, CT — Stratford Police recovered the body of a missing Florida man in the Housatonic River on Wednesday. Police had announced early Wednesday evening that they had recovered a body in the river and then later confirmed that the man has been identified as Tavares Harris, who went missing last week.
Shortly after midnight on June 7, Harris, 26, of Florida, crashed his SUV into the protective railing on the Devon Bridge, Capt. Frank Eannotti previously said. (To sign up for Stratford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
Eannotti said Harris then exited his vehicle and jumped from the bridge. The initial search of the Housatonic River yielded no results and he had been missing until Wednesday evening’s discovery.
